Kaya Escapes is built on respect for the environment and the communities we visit. For us, travel is more than moving from place to place—it is about forming new connections and leaving a positive impact.

Our guests explore freely and enjoy the richness of each destination while also helping to protect these sites so they remain for future generations.

Our guiding principles

  • Sustainability: We design travel experiences that reduce environmental impact and support conservation efforts.
  • Community cooperation: We work closely with local groups, artisans, and civil society organizations so that tourism benefits the people who live in each destination.

Straw to Paper initiative

Special needs individuals, orphans, and widows all take part together in this project. The aim is cooperation, where each group contributes and supports the others.

This shared effort builds strength, creates opportunities, and shows how working side by side can bring positive change for everyone involved.

Rice straw: what it is and why it matters

  • Nature: A dry, fibrous material made up of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin.
  • Traditional use: Often used as animal feed, bedding, or mulch in fields.
  • Modern use: Can be used for making paper, compost, bioenergy, and building materials.
  • Environmental issue: In many places, rice straw is burned to clear land quickly, causing air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and health issues.
  • Sustainable approach: Recycling rice straw into useful products helps reduce waste and protect the environment.

Nile River Rescue Initiative

This initiative began with youth, then fishermen’s wives joined, using their time while husbands were out fishing to collect plastic containers along the river. Their children joined them, working beside their mothers. Later, the fishermen themselves took part.

Families living on small islands in the Nile became a community of plastic collectors. Wives, children, and fishermen together now safeguard the river, reduce pollution, and show how cooperation within families can protect the Nile for the future.

Purpose and impact

  • Purpose: Reduce plastic waste in the Nile River and improve water quality for people, wildlife, and agriculture.
  • Community role: Local residents, civil groups, and volunteers gather plastic containers and ensure they are recycled or safely disposed of.
  • Impact: Keeps the river cleaner, builds awareness about waste management, and strengthens cooperation between citizens and organizations in Cairo.

Children’s Creative Workshops

In Luxor, a local school organized workshops where children learned through simple creative activities. They spent time coloring, drawing, and practicing communication skills. The workshops gave them space to express themselves, share ideas, and build confidence.

It was a community effort that encouraged children to use art and conversation as tools for learning and connection.

Our commitment

Our goal is to create journeys that are responsible, authentic, and meaningful—where travelers enjoy new places while contributing to their protection and the well-being of their communities.
